Extension & building permit drawings - Hjärup
Located in a residential area near Lund, this project involves the extension of a private guest house for a family of four – two parents and their two young daughters. The client’s vision was to create independent living for the eldest daughter, with the flexibility to function as a guest house in the future.
The biggest challenge was designing a complete home within a compact footprint, consisting of a bedroom with sitting area, a kitchen with dining area, a standard bathroom, and an entrance hall with integrated storage. Our solution focused on maximizing space efficiency while adhering to applicable architectural and engineering requirements.
To make room for the new building, an existing storage building had to be demolished. As compensation, I designed a new storage building on the opposite side of the house. This not only solved the family's storage needs, but also helped create a more secluded and pleasant garden environment.
One of the main design focuses was to maximize natural light and create a bright and welcoming atmosphere. We also prioritized accessibility to ensure smooth movement for people with special needs. Material choices were carefully adapted to harmonize with the original house and maintain a unified architectural identity.
Construction began in late 2024 but was temporarily paused over the winter. Completion is expected in summer 2025.
