Public Project/Central Library - Duhok University
This project was planned to be implemented in phases according to UNESCO’s program for similar initiatives. This inspired me as an architect to develop simple but strategically thought-out design solutions – easy-to-build and maintain structures that combine low cost with efficiency and high quality.
My design was based on a modular concept, where various factors, such as the topography of the site, played a decisive role. By using separate but interconnected modules, I was able to handle the height differences without having to carry out extensive earthworks, which in turn helped to reduce construction costs.
The project also included the design of the main gate, a secondary gate and the university campus perimeter fence. After the initial construction, successive additions of more buildings followed. In 2020, the main gate underwent a renovation, where the construction company added extra slats to the original design.
